Further to my letter of the 6th and in reply to your letter under the above referenze.
I have been concerned about the ten days wait at Singape -ore and cost of accomodation whilst waiting. If you could ascerta from the Colonial Office the approximate charge for hotel fees, in moderate circumstances, we might be able to do it. I have written to the Colonial Secretary and asked him for introductions, as he promised to be helpfull where possible. We shall have a very lim- ited supply of money and cannot risk having to sing in the streets, so I wondered if you would explore the possibilities with the Colonial Office, as we must know early. I wouldn't trouble you if I could get to London in time, myself. Failing anything of a helpfull character from the Colonial Office, we shall have to cone back by air.
You will no doubt think I am rather troublesome but my excuse is that I am tremendously interested in the Far East and I am not afraid of going to a bit of trouble and roughing it and it will be a matter of extreme disappointment to me not to obtain th fullest benefit from the money that will be spent on our passage by HM Gov'.
The trouble at the Colonial Office will be that Mr Creeb Jones is in the West Indies, I believe, but they will recieve my letter by first post on Monday, 8th Sept', and if you would make an enquiry for me there, you could obtain the report and bock us up for an air passage back, if nothing could be done.
I wrote to the Colonial affice 62 Sept. 47.
Yours Sincerely
Juramin
